My surgery is scheduled for May 5th

Hello,

I haven't been very active here since joining in late summer. I had a surgery date scheduled for September 2016, but was asked by my husband to reconsider, so I canceled it. I joined a gym - again - that I have yet to go to; I purchased healthy cookbooks that are still in the same spot on the bookshelf; I bought workout equipment that remains untouched. There is nothing different about me or my life six months later except that time has passed. And will continue to pass if I don't act to take my life back.

I've requested work time off, bought a plane ticket, and scheduled my surgery. The time to change is now.

Reading everyone's posts, about your experiences, has been very helpful to me. Thank you for sharing your journeys and giving this newbie courage and hope that I can do this.

Welcome! This journey is yours. Just make sure your partner is on the same boat!

But really, it's good that you've been here doing your research. And I'm sure that exercise equipment will soon be getting the dust blown off of it.

Now get to the gym and stop wasting that membership money! Treadmill, elliptical, and maybe a stair climber if you get ambitious!!!

Awesome! No cancelling this time, and you will get through surgery and recovery better if you start working a bit on the exercise now... even if it takes awhile to build up to that 30 min a day.

May 5th is going to sneak up on you fast! :D I'm sure it feels like forever away right now, but don't worry.

You do You!

Your husband is hopefully on board, and will be supportive, but don't let him dissuade you again.

However, you'll need to start looking at truly changing things, before the surgery... because once you have the surgery, as great as the initial weight loss is, you MUST change your habits in order to be successful for the rest of your life. If you don't, you will just gain it back, like so many other people have (We all have that friend, who's cousin's, wife's, sister gained it all back).

And I sound so preachy! I didn't mean to... it's just that I'm still battling it, and most of us here are, too. It takes that vigilance to keep going... When someone tells you that WLS is the easy way out, just turn to them and laugh... they have no idea.

My husband asked me to reconsider also. I thought about it for about half a second. Then I had a nice long talk with him and explained why I need to do this. Not want, NEED. He still doesn't want me to do it. He is, however, being supportive and not sabotaging me. I'm scheduled for sleeve on May 1.

Best wishes on your journey!
