No comfortable sleeping position

Lately I've found it incredibly hard to get comfortable while sleeping... On my stomach my shoulders her, on my back my arms feel out of place unless theyre over my head and then my shoulders hurt. On my side my knees hurt resting on top of eachother (who knew that was a thing... knee bones touching knee bones hurt lol)

Curious what people have found to work? I used to be stomach or side sleeper. I think I need to bring a soft/plush blanket into the bed to sandwich between my knees... a pillow might be too much.

I, too, had the toughest time adjusting my sleeping position to my new body. Here's what finally works for me.

Two pillows for my head - to keep elevated and prevent any acid/heartburn.

Sleeping on my side, with this pillow tucked in between my back and the bed.

I also need a pillow between my knees because the bone on bone hurts so badly. It can't be too thick though. Just a regular size pillow. Another member here and I have coined it "the crotch pillow" It has it's own pillowcase so I don't confuse it with the head pillows...haha.

It's a whole production...LOL...good luck -

haha I like your style! I'm not a legit germaphobe, but I am definitely quirky about some stuff -- a crotch pillow for me would absolutely require its own pillow case lol

I rock two pillows, as well, but they're the super soft down kind. Love to fluff them up then sink in, and throughout the night flip them around to get a cold side.

Looks like I'm goin shoppin for a 3rd for my knees!

Now to figure out how to get my great dane to stop laying across my body while she sleeps :(

One day my husband was lying on the couch and the cat was upset and meowing at him.

Turned out he had gone to the bedroom for a pillow and taken hers.

She was not happy. After that I used a pillowcase in a totally different color for her pillow.

LOL crotch pillow. Exactly. Never a good night when you confuse your pillows.

I'm pre-op still, but I can relate to the struggle of not being comfortable in bed. The pillow/blanket between your thighs is a a great idea. Placing an object between your thighs not only helps with your bones rubbing together, it also helps bring your hips and spine into a better alignment, so that should alleviate even more pain.

personally, I really struggle to sleep at night due to discomfort and other issues. My pcp suggested a physical therapist and a sleep doctor. I went to the physical therapist and it really helped.

Two weeks away! I remember the feeling, you must be getting so excited!

What does the physical therapist do that helped, just curious?

Yeah I'm crazy pumped!

The physical therapist will work with you and your specific problems. A lot of my pain was coming from sleeping in positions that were bad for my muscles and spine. She gave me some stretches because my neck and shoulders became for sore after sleeping. And she also showed me how to sleep in different "healthy" positions that would reduce muscle strain and ensure my Skelton was getting twisted around all wonky- more preventive care. She told me that sleeping posture is just as important as day time posture.
