Lose vs Loose
I also spent a career editing documents, so grammar and spelling errors bug me, too. One of my biggest pet peeves is "board" versus "bored." But with chat rooms and texting, I use text speak a lot which I also know bugs people. When I see the errors, I just wince, bite my tongue, and move on. After all, these are discussion forums not English class! :)

Eh, lots of excuses for mistyping/autocorrect, etc. You can always go back and edit your post for honest errors. Leaving the errors just shows you are sloppy and don't care.
It's easier (and ultimately better on the sanity) to silently make fun of all the idiots who somehow managed to graduate from high school yet haven't mastered first- or second-grade reading and writing skills.
I am judging everyone here.

I used to get irritated.... but then I realized that my older brother is a lot more successful than me, and his grammar and spelling are terrible.
Plus, I come here for advice and support, not English lessons.
It's sad to say, too, that with Spell Check, Autocorrect, etc., things are going to get a lot worse!
The lose-loose controversy and all the others aren't about typos or autocorrect. They're about people not knowing their native language (those for whom it is the native language, that is). Believe that Americans in general are lousy at English. I do notice the most common errors each time I trip over them, but I look the other way in venues such as this. I'm not the language patrol of websites and I don't want to belittle anyone by correcting her. If someone asks, "Did I get this wrong?," I'll say it privately. Otherwise, mouth shut.
