What is a Diet Myth You Totally Bought Into? --

Over the years, on my journey to super morbid obesity, I have tried about 50 zillion different magical weight loss methods (besides actually measuring portion sizes and eating appropriately...) to curb the gain. These included magical food such as:
- green tea
- quinoa
- red raspberry
- green coffee beans
- grapefruit
- cinnamon
- peppers
- apple cider vinegar
- organic apple cider vinegar
- vegetarianism
- veganism
- fruit smoothies
- juicing
- I could go on and on and on -- but I think you get the idea...
But, I am not talking about those. I am talking about the WRONG information that everyone accepts as FACT about losing weight -- which one are you guilty of falling for?
For me, I have two:
Starvation Mode -- or the idea that if I eat too little, your body will not lose weight. HAHAHAHA.
and
Negative Calorie Foods -- or the idea that some foods take more energy to digest than they do to eat. So theoretically you would burn calories by eating them and therefore offset the calories you are ingesting. Celery is often touted as this.
What diet myth did you fall for in the past??

I fell for the starvation one too- or that if the scale stopped moving I needed to eat more.
When I was 12 I sent away for my very first miracle cure diet book. Apparently if I took multiple cold showers a day my body would burn enough calories warming back up that I could eat whatever I wanted and wouldn't have to exercise. I can't remember if the cold showers stopped because I couldn't stand the cold or if I gave up because it wasn't working.

Losing the regain! I got this!
Low fat foods being healthier than high fat foods. Ugh.
Also the myth that low salt diets are good for everyone.
Oh! The myths that the FDA and USDA care about people, that "serving sizes" are relevant to anything, that a 2000-calorie diet is standard, and, last but not least, that the way of eating the government publishes is in any way rooted in science and reality.

Vyvanse is amazing and works very well for me. I haven't had a single binging episode since I started taking it and, when I did start it and was at the worst of my BED, I had been binging multiple times a day. I would like to stay on it forever.

Yes, I remember Susan Power (or was it Powder?) with her exasperated "THE FAT IS MAKING YOU FAT!"
Anyone remember those infomercials? It had to be 20 years ago as I was in high school at the time, but I was fat and I totally bought it. Yes, it made sense! Eating fat is making me fat!
So I went ultra-low fat.
You can guess the results. lol... Gummy Bears are a fat free food! Wow! Oh, how I cringe now... Don't know why I didn't pay more attention to calories (and carbs weren't even on the radar).
