I love that name. If darling daughter was a boy, that was going to be his middle name, after Sainted Husband's grandfather, a quality human.

I can't see myself with another name....but it may be because my name isn't a terribly common one to begin with, and my middle name is even less common. As a kid I detested my middle name, as an adult I appreciate that it's unique.....and if my son had been a daughter he would have ended up with the same middle name. As it is, he ended up with my Hubby's middle name instead.

I'm not as picky about nicknames because there's really not that many for Kelsey....friends and family shorten it to Kels, but if they pronounce it like "Kelz" then it gets on my nerves.

Never fails when I'm on the phone people assume I said Chelsea or Kathy though!

I kinda like my name, mostly it can be russian or italian? & I'm neither, don't know anyone else in the family of russian or italian heritage. Plus it sounds kinda cool hearing the long version. Antonia. Everyone just calls me T which I like anyway.

I'm kinda a fan of combo names, like combining the parents names, although I don't see myself as Paulina.

My sister did something like this for her daughter. She wanted her to have my Mother's name (Laura) but wanted her also to have a unique name. So, her name is Laurana (we all her Ana for now).

"Antonia" is beautiful with either pronunciation.

Sometimes combined parents names work, but I'd hope that parents can set their egos aside in favor of what's best for the kid, especially in childhood. Long ago I knew a woman named for both parents, Thelma and Leonard -- she was "Thelard." That's a short "e" with accent on the first syllable. I'm now wondering if she was tormented by other kids.

I don't care what the sentiment or reasoning is, NEVER put "lard" in a child's name! That like throwing steak in a lion's den.

I was named Barbara at birth. No one ever called me Barbara, I was always Bobbie Jo. I was OK with that because until I went to school, I didn't really know my name was Barbara. Right around the 6th or 7th grade, it got shortened to Bobbie. Around age 15 my family started shortening it to Bob. I finally put my foot down and proclaimed my name is Barbara and I refused to answer to anything else.

I'm happy to say...hello, I'm 68 years old and my name is Barbara!
