What do you like about OH?
Totally agree with you Erin, my husband (also very supportive) is probably very tired of discussing my eating habits and everything I am learning. I love having a place to read about everyone's journey and personal experiences and ask questions when I need to. I am so excited to be on this journey and its hard not to talk about it, so this is a good way to spare my family (somewhat).
I am fortunate to have a real life support group through my surgeon's office but that is just once or twice a month and this gives me a chance to connect whenever I feel the need to keep "my head in the game". That my experience is not unusual. I have also received some great tips and ideas for staying on track and for menu planning.

The difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do!
My surgeon does have a support group, but they are 90 minutes away and it's in the evening. To add to that the place where the office is, is the coldest town in NYS most of the year (and snowy!).
I was considering talking to my dietician about peer mentors. I would have killed for someone at least semi-local before surgery!

So can picture the visual of your husband.... people in general, especially the first year get sick of listening to us. I can still whine with the best of them...

Yes so easily I can identify with this post. I remember years ago when I first started out hearing about the honeymoon phase where it seemed like everyone except me was having their weight fall off so easily & kept thinking where is my Honeymoon phase.
In fact one of my very first posts was this is so not a honeymoon phase & all the responses from vets, newbies & everyone in between helping me to hang in there. Very grateful to the people here.

Well and you think the weight falling off means that everything will be dandy and wonderful. But your brain doesn't care about those pounds, it wants goal and goal is just so.stinking.far.away.
I remember being about 3 weeks out and my daughter was sick. She needed to go to the doctor and I just had a total breakdown because I could not handle anything else. And my husband didn't exactly get it. Because I was healed right?
I was so in the mire of get up, eat something, drink something, eat some more, plan for more food, take a walk, get on the scale, "is this normal?", crap it's time to eat again! that I couldn't see straight.
And that's where OH folks told me to chill out and go with the flow a little more, not to try and be 100% perfect with every protein gram and water ounce, etc. and it was so helpful.
