How Did Your Personal Style Change After Goal?

I used to wear jeans and men's cut geek t-shirts. All the time.

Now I wear silk wrap skirts and solid color women's cut t-shirts (long or short sleeve, depending on weather). That's about 85% of the time. The rest of the time I tend to be wearing fitness clothes because I'm doing fitness.

My wardrobe is also WAY more colorful now.

My hair went from a standard bob to getting shaved off and I've kept it very short ever since.

I'm still fairly lazy when it comes to my "style," but my style is a lot more unique now.

I'm a style work in progress myself. But I am much more inspired by others' very personal, unique street fashions than by Big F Fashion.

I'm early on the in the process, but I'm already taking more pride in my appearance and doing things for myself. I got my nails done, and waxing and my hair highlighted. I actually feel good about people looking in my general direction now.

As far as clothing goes, because I sell Lularoe, before my surgery I quite literally lived in it. Since my surgery I'm rediscovering how much I loved my skinny jeans and tops with more structure and shape. I still wear a lot of LLR for work, but jeans are a wonderful thing I hadn't been in in a LONG time. I'm actually noticing that things can be too big and retiring those to the "garage sale" pile.

I'm also remembering how comfortable work out attire is, but now I'm actually working out while wearing it.

The metamorphosis from unhealthy to fit is so much fun! Or it was for me. BTW, I love LLR -- never bought it for myself, but I've loved it on others. I covet those feather leggings (the rust on black version).

Here's my style change story (so far):

For most of my life, I've been a "classic style" dresser who enjoyed the dress-for-success pantsuit look. As a professional, black and navy went down well, plus those colors were slimming. Blouses were basic -- Brooks Brothers and Jones New York. Boxy suits (think Pendleton) blurred my growing midsection. And as I grew larger and larger, uniform dressing continued to work fine for me.

When I got flashy it was with scarves, not shoes, because when you're 50-100 pounds overweight with bad knees, sexy shoes aren't workable.

But in the last 10-15 years, women started wearing more feminine styles at work -- sleeveless (not happening!), higher heels (see above), and no hose (not on these chubby varicose veined calves). My old uniform look began to be dated. But I could think of no options better than my old pantsuit uniform.

Then post-op as I lost weight, I experienced for the first time in decades what others above have said -- that form-fitting clothing was more flattering. I still liked classic styles, but now with belts. I still wasn't a big color or prints person. I still liked solids and subtle colors. And, frankly, I still liked uniforms.

As I continued to lose weight, I discovered other uniforms made of: Boots of all heights; skinny jeans and slimmer, straighter-cut slacks; jackets nipped in at the waist that, when buttoned, followed the line of my torso; pencil skirts made of leather or subtle stripes that ran in all directions.

I found new ways to wear my beautiful scarves: As belts, halter blouses, sarongs, and shawls. My jewelry was still basic and unshowy.

I grew out my church-lady cut to a little below my shoulders. Although I stayed blonde (not my natural color) I had my hairdresser put in more darks and dimension. I bought a straightening flat iron and retired my curler. Sometimes I wore my hair up and a little messy.

Like theAntiChick I darkened my eyebrows and went "full eye." I started using teeth whitening products. Most importantly, I began actually using all those skin care products I'd been buying for years -- both the morning and the night-time stuff. I started wearing sunglasses and felt justifiably mysterious.

I found a new resting ***** face that was less ***** and more "mildly amused." That was easy to change -- after losing 100 pounds I felt a lot less *****y and more entertained. ;)

Before long I'd ditched Clark's walking shoes for Doc Martens, kitten heels for 3.5 inch pumps, pull-up stretch boot-cuts for 501s and Escada skinny jeans that gripped what was left of my ass like a 22-year-old Roman gigolo.

Kathy Bates, meet Debbie Harry.

And that's where I am now -- skinny jeans, black boots, white button-up shirt, a leather jacket, sunglasses, maybe a quiet Hermes scarf, and a canvas crossover bag.

I'm pretty sure I don't really need a motorcycle.
