Irregular heart beat

Former ER nurse here - lots of people have irregular heartbeats, and never know it until they have to get checked out for surgery or come into the ER for something else.  Once found, they need to do a workup to make sure it's not something that needs intervention, but there are hundreds of benign reasons people can have irregular hearbeats and nothing needs done for it but keep an eye on it.
