Confess - how many different sizes have you had in your closet at 1 time?
When I started this I had a range from 18 to 28s in my closet. I was wearing 24s at surgery. For a while I went closet shopping as sizes started to drop but then had to get to where I had to start buying some things. I have to be in business wear for work so I couldn't go in things that were too big and baggy. At first I was almost scared to get rid of the bigger clothes but then decided that i needed to let that go because I was never going to go back if at all possible so I have donated tons of things over the last year and a half. I still have tried to not buy too much at once because of still losing and trying to tone more. I am in an 8-10 now and figure I will land in the 6/8 range when I can get rid of the last few pounds. When I level out I will really rebuild my closet.
Had VSG on 9/28/15
Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!
I'm about 5 months post op and used to have size 20 all the way down to size 6 (only a few favorite pieces at this size). I have gotten rid of almost all the larger sizes. I still have my size 14's but they will go to a friend or my MIL. I'm currently in a 12 (10 in dresses). I will still hang on to a few of my favorite pieces as I decide to haven them taken in or not. It is nice to be able to go shopping in my own closet. Curious to see where I bottom out at.

YOU ARE DOING AMAZING! Congratulations on your lose and bye bye size 20's
I plan on spending an entire day going through my drawers and closet. It will be so much fun. I am almost there to getting back to where I want to be.... When you try on size 7's and they are too big it's celebration time and I have 20 to go

In my house I have everything from size 4 (after my last big weight loss) to size 20, Small to 3X. At one time I was up to a size 32 so yes I know all about being short and fat! What I can't wear is either packed in tubs of (I hope to be able to wear) to trash bags to donate when I get around to it. I have a fairly small closet so it only contains the stuff I can actually wear - currently anything from size 8 to 14 (the 14's I have on today will probably be the last time though - they're pretty baggy). What fits the best right now is mostly 8-10 bottoms and S-M tops.

Hi pr31
Isn't is strange how it takes us so long to let go. You can say you have not had time but really there is that little voice that says are you sure? But, you will. When the time is right and you say I am here on my 8-10's and here is where I am going to say. Bye bye, fat clothes

I've been at maintenance for a year. 135 pounds, 5'5".
Sizes vary so much that I'm not sure a wide range of sizes means a whole lot. For instance, right now I have sizes ranging from 2 to XL in my closet. And I swear they all fit me. Admittedly, most of my clothes are sizes 4-8. But still, there's some crazy sizing variation out there!
And waaaay back in the back of the closet is a Pendleton suit in size 18W (or maybe 20W?) that's the only thing I kept from "those days." About twice a year I haul it out and try it on.
And it always freaks me out!

I have Everything! I gave some new unworn shirts and skirts to my ( very cheap and thus seriously rich neighbor) other than that I just couldn't bear to part with the beautifully made cashmere coats furs stoopid stuff like that that made living as kinda- big grrl sorta worthwhile
translate that as I needed all the junk to decorate the not-so-great-tree lol
now it's all in garbage bags probably often moth eaten - but I do try on the occasional piece and if it doesn't look like the eighties I might toss it on! Sometimes it helps to look homeless... like when bargaining for a lower price ... a lot of times I just shake my head and resolve to do a major clean out for goodwill.
But it's also nice to be able to layer with the bigger sizes and exercise comfortably in the winter ... and to look like a little waif Annie Hall drowning in what used to fit ya perfectly!
It can work as a cute look particularly in winter .. the giant but quality coat a long scarf little adorable knit hat and mittens ... little platform combat boots.
I had size 14-24 in my closet till just before WLS.
Right before surgery I purged everything I did not love and packed everything that was too small to fit me into labeled boxes.
So I started with just the 24's and the 3X in my closet. As soon as thing got loose I donate them. I am in the size 18, and some pretty loose 20's now. Will probably open the next box this weekend.
I have cloths for probably 4-6 more months but i had to get new shoes, every pair I owned are now too large.
