Of course you should follow your doctor's orders -- but DO up it as soon as you can. That really is the bare minimum and especially if you are drinking a lot of broth and gatorade -- both high in salt -- you may actually be really quite thirsty.

I know its crazy but you are not feeling real hunger, itis not possible. There are 3 things that could be causing that feeling.
- Acid reflux - if your surgeon has you on meds for this you can rule this one out. If not, call him and ask to be put on meds for this
- you are dehydrated - this can mimic this feeling exactly. It can cause more serious symptoms as well. Weakness, headache, dizzyness among others. Are you getting all of your liquids in?
- head hunger - it is normal and common and unfortunately you have to learn to deal with it. The best thing you can do is distract yourself until it passes. Don't encourage it by watching food network type shows or even commercials. Ideas for distraction: take a shower, do some dishes, read a book, watch a movie, do something with your hands like knitting and crochetiing.
work through these to find relief from this.....i am afraid this is something we all learn to work through when those feelings of hunger come up. Best of luck to you!!!!
why do you say it is impossible to feel hunger post VSG? We have seen many on this site with true hunger that doesn't completely go away.
I had to do clear liquid for 2 weeks also and I did feel hungry too. I was not then or now allowed any sugar drinks. The one thing that kept my hunger in check was tea or chicken bouillon. The warmth seemed to make me feel satisfied. I was also on Prilosec for 6 months. The only other thing I could have during that 2 weeks was a protein drink. Good luck, stay strong and reach out to your doctor/NP/PA or nutritionist for clarification on the PPI (antacid) and intake.
Two weeks of clear? Phew! Broths are your best bet, for sure! I often went to Panera or my local Asian restaurants and asked for whatever broth based soup they had -- strained. They were happy to do it, I had a variety of flavors and it made me feel "normal".
To cope? My best strategy was the power of Listerine. I gargled with it, I used those stupid breath strips, and repeat. NOTHING tastes good after Listerine, so...
Agree with the above on the sugar and the acid pills.
Go go for a walk, paint your nails, brush your teeth, take up knitting and take it one day at a time. No, take it one hour at a time. You can do ANYTHING for one hour...

I have found through experience that bone broth is a little more satisfying and hunger quenching than just plain ole chicken broth for me. I am 13 years out and still drink bone broth when I am sick or need something hot to warm up or when my tummy is acting out. When I am having a hungry day, sipping bone broth throughout the day helps keep me from feeling like I am starving. Good luck!! Hang in there!! You can make it!!
**Edited to add: Buy some wanton soup and strain off the solids. That broth is so tasty and will give you something different to taste.
So I am 6 days post op from a vsg & I am physically hurt g from hunger. My doctors has me on 4oz of clear liquid Every hour for the first 2 weeks. I called the office to see if I can advance too full liquids bc I am just so hungry and they said no. That I must be healing faster than normal but I still just need to do clear liquids Any advice for how i can try to curb the hunger ? Idk how I'm going to last 8 more days like this :(
I would also give up the sugar drinks.
Are you getting 64+ oz of liquid a day? Dehydration mimics hunger.
