I caught a really good sale on ground turkey this week, and I've picked up several 5lb packages to portion out and freeze. Problem is, I'm not totally sure what to do with it other than make chili!

Lay it on me, peeps: what's your favorite thing to make with turkey?

Skinnytaste.com has a recipe for picadillo, a cuban ground beef dish that I make with ground turkey. I think it's probably supposed to be served with rice but I just eat it as is or stuff in a pepper half and bake

Turkey burgers, turkey meatloaf ( portioned out in a muffin tin for individual servings), turkey zucchini boats... Anything that can be done with burger can be done with the ground turkey.

I made these for a party and they were a big hit.

I also froze some on a tray so they wouldn't stick together and put them in a freezer bag. Two make a perfect dinner portion. I do thaw them before heating.

I don't cook much with ground beef, which is why I'm a little lost, LOL! :)

My favorite is taco meat for taco salad.  it's versatile and can be used in a myriad of ways.  It also stays in the fridge for a good amount of time, and reheating it is never an issue.

Ground turkey on its own is very unpleasant.  It has a spoiled taste.  If you've ever bought plain turkey sausage (a sad substitute for Italian pork sausage) in the meat case, you may have noticed.  To be palatable or better, it needs to be seasoned generously.

Beyond that, it's open season:  Stuffed peppers, turkey loaf, chili and variations on chili (i.e., ground-turkey stews) and whatall else you'd do with ground beef as someone's already written.

One of my improvisations worked well enough that I've deliberately made it a number of times.  T 1 lb turkey, add about 1/2 cup of refried black beans (pinto is fine, too) and 1/3-1/2 cup of Trader Joe's tomatoless corn salsa (their newer cowboy salsa would work, too) and maybe some Rotel diced tomatoes.  Also a beaten egg, a very small amount of plain crumbs, chopped onion.  Cumin, chili powder, pepper, some salt, whatever you like.  Sounds terrible, I suppose, but mix it together and what do you get?  Bibbity bobbity boo!
