Planning a big trip 4 months after surgery

I like the trail mix idea!

I agree about getting protein from food but not sure I will have that option everywhere as generally vegetarian options are pasta or rice based in non veg places. I'll be hunting out any veg restaurants I can find but I'm pretty sure there are none in the outback!

I had a problem with feeling weak and out of it in the morning as well. For me I found that consuming higher calories and more fat for breakfast made a huge difference. Obviously my choice of bacon or sausage for breakfast isn't going to work for you but how about foods like avocado? I would also test your proposed diet every other week starting now. If something fails here it will give you time to recover and start over.

Love that idea. Maybe I'll try putting some avocado in my am protein shake!

At four months post-op I felt generally awesome.

It might make sense to google around and find a Facebook group for vegan australians or something along those lines?  That way you could ask your questions to people in the country about what your best options will be while there?

I am guessing you probably have an idea of where you will be staying.   You should be able to research the local eateries on-line.  Organic and Vegan restaurants can be found here in the states, especially on the West coast.  You may have luck in finding restaurants in the area that have vegan choices.  And most restaurants also post their menu's, so you can get an idea of what will be available in the area.

I did London at 5 months and it was totally doable.  I walked my feet off.  I also did some great shopping!  And I believe I came home at a loss!!!

At 4 months is when things really started to get back to normal for me.  Google low carb vegan and try everything to make sure you tolerate them.  Next carry a good amount of snacks with you.  At 4 months I could eat enough for normal sit at my desk and some walking activity levels.  However doing a lot of things like you will be, you might get hungry.  So find portable options.

have a good trip

I wii definitely try depending on time and wifi access, my traveling companion doesn't know about the surgery.  I will definitely have experiences to share when I get back though!
