Transfer addiction - shopping

I have my eye on a pair of black shoe boot type things... they are black suede with huge purple patent leather polka dots on them... they are at this consignment boutique... they are $700 shoes, for sale $169.00... the woman that brought these shoes in (I already own one pair) had foot surgery... most of these were never worn even once... there's also a pair of ankle boots with a MINK cuff around them!!! (It's killing me)...

I have about 60-70 pairs of shoes... I sneak them in...

Clothes, I'm a goodwill junkie, and have honestly found some fabulous clothes as of late... but when I get to goal and I enter that boutique... there are clothes that make me salivate in there and will make my pocketbook bone dry!!!

I think I need the bacon and egg ones... what size do you wear??!

My transfer addiction right now really seems to be shopping... but at the same time... I realized that I had NONE... NADA... NOTHING... in the way of shorts or capris... I NEED to shop... kind of like eating at this moment.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it...

and I realize I have been of no help...

The mink cuffed ankle boots sound so awesome!  And yes, high-end consignment stores are the place to shop.  Finding a great one has saved me so much money.  It's filled my closet with Escada, St. John, and Eileen Fisher pieces that are in great condition, about 10% of the original prices, and fit my skinny ass!

This place is exactly that! I'm just really trying to hold off on buying too many items until I get to my goal size and stay there (whatever that is)... I can get cute enough (and oddly enough, some nice designer things occasionally at Goodwill)...

But the shoes.... Oh the shoes are amazing (especially this one lady's shoes that I've been talking about... literally in the box brand new $700 shoes from italy... even in UK sizing!)...

I like to shop-- and some days it feels like an addiction-- but reality is I have so many more options than what I used to. I think that is what I'm hooked to-- the options. So like others mentioned, I fill my online lists with options and let them sit till the price drops.

I never pay full price for anything. So I'd have watched those shoes until the price was reduced. Do you and your hubby have any kind of agreement about spending? We agree an inidividual purchase (meaning for ourselves, not the kids or house) of $150 or more must be discussed.

Hubby knows I've had to spend a lot more than typical in the last 2ish years because of the weight loss. My Macy's charge is my debt that I pay on my own and don't include our joined bills. But I know my debt impacts the family's spending so I won't go hog wild. just Yesterday I scored a Calvin Klein dress at the thrift store for $20- got it for my son's graduation in June.

You and your hubby have a good system. I like the "$150 or more must be discussed" rule.

I got both pairs because I saved 10% when I bought 2.  I think I'm going to return one pair of shoes when they arrive because I really wanted just the one but that 10% sucked me in.

I already own a pair of their heels and I love them.  I got these ones back in December.  I love them and I'm going to wear them to work tomorrow.

Those are great too ! I love this website !

For me shoes are a horrible addiction- I literally have several roomfuls . I almost always buy them on sale -like for ten bux. My main requirement is I have to be able to walk ten miles in Manhattan in them no matter what.

But here's the way I think - I'd rather have a whole bunch of different boots and shoes all of which make you stride and feel differently and switch up the same basic comfortable but flattering outfits to perfectly suit the occasion-

i really do wear almost everything even the 5 inch wedgies and seventies platforms ( mostly on vacations or auditions)

the only shoes I don't buy when I see them deeply discounted are skinny heeled platform pumps cuz I hate the crippled ridiculous way women walk in them ... and then I have to do a red carpet thing and go running out and have to spend way too much money at the last minute grr.

I do think you have to spend money for needle heels or they're just unwalkable... stripper shoes work under gowns or long flared pants but sooner or later someone sees them when you're sitting down - and you get the raised eyebrow questioning way too interested look ...

I used to buy all my clothes from catalogs.  Going into a store and having a choice in clothes is great.  Last year, after the fire, I purchased just about everything from Craig's List and Salvation Army.  I have more tops and pants than I can use...but just about every Wednesday you'll find me at Salvation Army for their half-price sales.

I haven't gotten into shoes yet...but when I was pre-op my mantra was "Belts, Bracelets  and Boots"  I just can't spend the money now.

I cringed when my daughter told me tonight that she spent $300 for a dress to go to a black tie awards dinner.  I've seen so many beautiful formal dresses at Salvation Army....for like $15-$20.  She'll wear the dress once and it will hang in her closet forever.

I had extra money from the insurance after the fire, but that money is gone (Instant Pot, Air Fryer, Food Processor, Seal-A-Meal, etc., etc., etc.)  That money is gone now, so I'm back on a strict budget.

But those shoes are so damn cute Deanna!!
