Transfer addiction - shopping
Seriously, i am having the hardest time shutting down the spending. I spent $125 on my credit card yesterday on 2 pairs of shoes. They are going to be awesome, but I couldn't help myself. I got these and these.
I can't wait until they get here.
But my problem is that i spend too much. Now that i can wear cute clothes and shoes, i just keep buying more. Uggh
My hubby is going to be pissed when he sees them.
If you don't have any debt and can pay for things with cash, I see no problem in shopping. If you are getting into debt just because you want something, instead of spending money on things your family needs, you should stop. Plus if it is going to cause problems in your marriage, you should cut back.
I have always been broke, so I still shop at thrift stores or find things on sale for under 10. I rarely spend more than $10 on any item for myself. I did just spend $19 on boots, which is a ton for me, but I have not bought new boots in 10 years.
You can be frugal and still find nice things.

They are cute shoes, but very similar. Can you keep one and return the other? Maybe get the other pair for your birthday or Christmas?

I use stuff like that for milestones. I had an issue with spending too. Shopping and eating have similar aspects - there are two huge impulse components.
When I want to buy something now, I put it on a special list or bookmark it and make myself wait at least 1 week. I try to engage in a healthy compulsion. Right now it is knitting and crocheting. There are a few options.
Keep a journal of your spending habits. Do they coincide with mood or hormonal changes? Do they coincide with stress or pain? What is going on at the same time?
It is frustrating. You have a good start on insight, though, and that's very hard for most people to get. :)

Bookmarking is a fabulous strategy. I have several private Amazon wish-lists that I use for window-shopping!

Thankfully, in my case, Amazon wish-lists don't indicate a shopping addiction, lol. I have more than I want to admit!!

My problem is that the things that I put on a wish list call to me: "buy me!"

If you can't stop yourself from buying things, you CAN stop yourself from keeping them.
Call and cancel the order, or send them back once they arrive on your doorstep.
