How do you all track your daily intake?

i am glad you responded. It helps to chat. I too struggled with liquids, just keep sipping a little at a time. Yes, the protein shake is awesome. Extra strength Tylenol was my "go to" for several days. It is best to take to keep the pain at bay, otherwise it can get worse before it gets better. You are not alone in being a "mood monster." Hormones are all over the place plus the emotional aspects of what we are embarking on is huge. I was super snappy but as time goes on I am getting better. I still have my moment. I didn't have a drain site but I know my right side, where they pulled the extra stomach was sore for quite a few weeks. Do you listen to music? I used my iPod for a while to help me go to sleep. Lack of sleep will definitely affect your mood. I only told my husband, mom and 2 sisters. It helps big time being on this site, everyone has or is going through the same experience. I also attend a support group through my weight loss center which helps me too. Maybe there is one near you. As each day goes by you will feel better and better. If you want to chat I am here. Thank you for your compliments, I really appreciate. Take good care.
I'm 5 weeks post op and I was exactly in the place you were in at 5 days out. In fact, I had several weepy melt downs over protein consumption (or lack there of) and water consumption (or lack there of). I added in a Gatorade one day when I felt especially icky and things turned around for me some after that day.
Day 7 was a game changer for me. I got some of my energy back and my brain fog went away. I will say that the hormone changes continue to plague me in different ways, but not nearly as bad as they were. At first I wanted to sob over everything and I was scared. I constantly questioned if I had done the right thing and then went through a period where I was certain I had NOT. Now I've moved on to being inpatient with the food progression and annoyed at all the thought that goes into my drink, eat, vitamins, drink, eat, exercise, drink eat cycle.
However, I feel HAPPY now and I see progress and I feed GOOD. Like, really good. Hang in there, this will get better & better!

Thanks Erin!
I was pretty weepy yesterday over pretty much the same things you mentioned. Lol. Got to love hormones!
today has already began on a better foot. Added warm apple cinnamon tea this morning with some almond milk. I actually enjoyed it a bit! Funny, because I haven't liked apple cinnamon tea before, but hubby bought me a box of it to be sweet, of couse after yesterday I didn't want to tell him "I don't like that kind"! Lol. Surprisingly it's going in pretty well! Lol
I love that you ladies are a bit ahead and able to add insight. Thank you so much! It helps more than you know!
I use MyFitnessPal. If you are on a device rather than your computer or laptop, I hear that "Baritastic" app is great. I use my laptop for logging though.
For me the macros are important because of my diabetes -- not only am I working on getting in my protein but if I have too many carbs my blood sugar will go up and I'll have to inject myself with insulin. (plus we really don't need a lot of carbs during our losing phase)

I use my myfitnesspal to track all my foods and macros. I also use my fitbit to track them, that way, I have a quick glace at what my calories in and my calories out are.
Tracking is a good quality to start early on. Since you are this early out, learning what is going in and seeing how you lose helps you. If you have questions, feel free to ask there are a lot of people who are willing to answer your questions.
Best of luck to you!
Nik
