How do you all track your daily intake?
Hey friends,
Just wondering how y'all track your daily food... paper, an app or ? Also I keep seeing the word "macros". What are they? Where do I find the numbers to track for them? Any help appreciated, thank you.
I've been using MyFitnessPal since 2011. At this point it's like an old friend. I like it. If you were just sleeved I wouldn't worry about Macros. The gist is that there is a certain balance to achieve of carbs, fat and protein. But if you just had surgery you will want to focus so much on protein the other parts don't matter much. I'm 4 weeks post op and eat about 15g of carbs per day, and that's simply because I can't consume anything but my protein at this point.

I have been using Sparkpeople for several years. I track everything I eat and it automatically tracks my calories, protein, carbs and fat. Macros are protein, carbs and fat. I like to see what they are at the end of the day. You can pretty much plug in what you want to track, vitamins, sodium, potassium, iron, etc. At the end of the day it will give you a report summarizing whatever you want to track. Their site has a lot to offer.
Really? I was always able to see the macros. I track my macros plus fiber and sugar in my food diary. I just set it all up in goals

I don't use the Myfitnesspal App, so can't say anything about it. But I use the website every day since surgery, and all the macros are there on the free version. From what I've seen, the paid version does very little extra.

I've been tracking on MFP since 2011 and the only month I paid for was the one where I consulted with my surgeon, because the paid version allowed me to export my full weight history to give to their office. I've never felt the need to pay otherwise.

How are you doing? If you want to share.

Thanks for asking!
I am doing OK. Not fab, but not too bad either. 3 lbs down since surgery (12lbs prior).
I am REALLY struggling to get my liquid intake up. I added in protein shake today ( premier) 3oz for breakfast, 3 oz for supper. So that should help a bit.
Pain is pretty good. I've stopped the doctor prescribed pain killer, and was considering taking a Tylenol tonight. Just pain on the left side near drain site. Makes sleeping a bit tricky.. My sleeping is messed up! I am up walking most of the night. Yikes!
Today the mood monster hit and I've been a bear! I sent my poor hubby out for a few groceries, just to give him a break! Lol I am trying to rein it in, but the tears are just beneath the surface all day. I' m pretty upbeat as a rule. I think it's a combo of the no sleep and everything else.
I am so happy I found this forum. It really has been a God send! I am enjoying the posts and it is so nice just to "talk" to people who understand this process. I have told nobody, other than my hubby and son. I will when I am ready, but didn't think I could handle all the naysayers or pushback before my surgery. So it's been pretty quiet around here. Hubby is wonderful, but I think he is getting tired of all my chatter on the same subject...I am not being a great conversationalist! As you can tell by the length of this post, I am a verbal processor and it helps me to chat! Lol poor hubby!
Again, thank you for asking about me. I've read several of your posts now and see you are doing great 86lbs is amazing!
