Progress!!!

I had my last visit with the psych on Monday, he gave me the green light, exercise therapist gave me the green light, dietitian gave me the green light, surgeon commended me on my lifestyle turnaround and said he thinks I am an excellent candidate.  we spoke and as of now I will be having thel sleeve gastrectomy.  since October 28 I have made ALL of my appointments, visited with my PCP religiously on the 9th of each month (that started October), passed my nicotine serum tests (I quit smoking October 29 cold turkey) and the surgeon will NOT do surgery on someone who is a smoker)  and have been able to lose 45# so far.  I see my PCP one more time on March 1 and have the hospital submit for insurance.  they hope to get approval in 2-3 weeks and schedule surgery some time in April.  in October it seemed like this would take an eternity and I almost said to hell with it because of all that is involved....now I don't know what the results will be, but reading your posts on here, doing research of my own, I am glad I decided to proceed.  anyone thinking about doing this please don't let the tests and time discourage you  they are all for your benefit, don't give up.  peace and love!

has anyone gone through Dr. Stephen Weiland at Aspirus Wausau Wisconsin hospital?

Sounds like you've spent the time pre-op wisely getting your head in the right place.  I also lost about 50lbs pre-op, and I though a LOT about that post-op.  About how happy I was that I started pre-op and didn't still have YET another 50 lbs to lose post-op.

There are no guarantees, but getting your head in the right place is the best thing you can do to ensure a positive outcome.  Best of luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!  I've never heard of the doc or hospital, but you can look for the doc on this site under the search function.

Best of luck!!

I'm sure quitting smoking was so hard! That could make anyone give up but you didn't!!! Wooohooo! The weight loss part was probably just as hard but you did that too! Weight loss surgery will help you keep it off!!! Keep it up!

there are other Badgers on here (me included) - not sure about the Wausau area, though.  There may be some lurkers from around there, though....
