Sort of crazy NSV
This happened a couple of weeks ago, but I forgot to share!
So I'm out at the grocery store just minding my own business when this somewhat older gentleman in a motorized scooter comes up behind me. Keep in mind this is a complete stranger. He was not significantly overweight, he did not know I had surgery, he did not know I lost 185lbs and he never saw the "old me". As he comes up behind me he says "Look at you, so skinny! Man, I have GOT to lose me some weight so I can look more like you."
I am virtually never at a loss for words, but that got me. WTH?? Talk about a good feeling! I guess I had never really considered it before, but although I have literally received hundreds (thousands?) of comments/compliments on my weight loss, I guess in my mind I always qualified it with "considering how freaking fat you used to be." There is something about a complete stranger calling you skinny that just feels different.
Of all the NSVs to date, and there have been so many, this was definitely one of the best.
Way to go!!! Those are the kind of compliments that really hit home!

About a year ago, my daughter had a friend sleep over. She never knew the "old" me. I was getting dinner ready for them, had the itunes going in the kitchen, singing away...and that Megan Trainor song came on, "All about that bass..." She said, "Why does she have to say skinny b*tches in this song? Don't you feel like skinny shaming people like us is just as bad as fat shaming?" I was like, "Who is she talking to?" before I realized it was just the two of us. Trippy.
