Does watching TV make you want to eat?

I have this watching TV and eating conquered.  I don't eat when watching TV and keep my hands busy.  Knitting is my secret.  This was one of my big triggers for me early on to beat!  I took mindless eating to an entire new level!

There are a few times where I am pushed to the limit to this day.  When they killed off Michael on Jane The Virgin I was thankful I did not have chocolate in the house.

Was/is eating while watching TV an trigger for you? If so, what have you don't to conquer this trigger?

This is definitely one of my problems. Unfortunately, I don't knit. But I did start playing a game on my phone while watching TV and that does take my mind off of eating some of the time. Other times, I fail though. So I just stopped watching TV every night. Now I only do it a few nights a week instead of every night.

Hi Jammur,

Early on I didn'****ch much TV either until I got a handle on it.  Keeping your hands busy is key....so whatever you do to keep from eating at the TV is a 2 !

Thanks for sharing!

I had cut out snacking for years.  As a foodaholic I ate only one meal about 3 hours before bedtime (one ENORMOUS meal!).  If I ate earlier, just like an alcoholic, once I started I couldn't stop.

Now that I have to eat several times a day I'm finding my old desire to eat while watching TV coming back.  I've started crocheting again to keep from eating.  It helps so much!

I do the exact same thing.  Coloring totally keeps my hands busy and my mind off food!

Hi roxytrim,

When I had surgery I had complications and ended up in bed for a very long time. I watched the Food Network 24/7 for weeks. How sick is that?  I was in mourning
