Good Morning Everyone!!

I finally met with my surgeon and she informed me that I needed to lose some weight before my surgery. So she has me on 1200-1500 cal daily with 50g carbs. I am carb crashing very badly. Do any of you have any tips to help me get through this??

Thanks

eat lean proteins. grill a lot of chicken. when you think you are hungry - eat that.  Or drink water or chicken or beef stock.

I use cucumbers and no sugar added pickles...they are like "calorie free" food.. Yellow mustard is also a "free" food..

Focus on your long term goal. Drink lots of water. The worst is usually over in 4 to 5 days.

Carb withdrawals are real and very crappy. Hang tight, if you follow the plan it will get better in a few days when your body adjusts.

Meat.

For meals and snacks and raw veggies - more filling than cooked.

Water, lots of water ...

I'm on a carb detox (4 days) and I do feel way better today than I did on day one ...

Second the meat suggestion. Have as much meat as you want. If you think you're hungry, but won't eat more meat, you aren't actually hungry. It's just your detoxing brain. Ride it out. It gets better.

Day one and two will be horrible.  You'll be a monster to yourself and others.  Expect to practically beg someone to let you take a spoon and eat the sugar out of the bag.  But by day 3-4 it gets better, and at the end of the week you will be free of those crazy thoughts.

DO NOT sneak in a candybar or soda it will make you happy that hour but then you start the process all over again.  Think about your favorite meats you've had, like bacon.  I personally love bacon and was morning the loss of cookies one day and then realized I could eat bacon and I love it too.  Anyway keep tasty meats on hand and stay far far away from sugar, it's the devil.

It gets better!  The first 3-4 days are the worst.  Just try to keep your eyes on your goal.

Another one of those white knuckle it moments...

And all the advice of the above posts is so true... MEAT MEAT MEAT...

Melt cheese over some pepperoni, have more bacon, deli slices with pickles and cheese...

I personally would ignore the calorie restriction for about 3-4 days, and deluge yourself in meats...
