My Big Fat Fabulous Life! Spoiler Alert! Take 2
For discussion purposes, I actually think Whitney is soooo NOT happy. Doing the jolly fat girl shtick has got her a show, which was her goal. She's not good enough to be a dancer (and not just because she's SMO) and the show supports her. No way she would have got a show if she were fat and miserable (like some, if not most of us were)
I think as soon as the show ends, if she's not dead, she'll have WLS. She'll never lose the 200lbs + she's overweight by diet and exercise and she's only going to get sicker and less "fit" as she ages. I'll bet there's a ton of peeps on here who were "healthy" in their 30s and not so much in their 40s, 50s et****il they got WLS.

Amen. Anyone who is SMO is a ticking time bomb. Not, not, not healthy.

Well, of course.
Media and the internet is highly edited, too. 99% of the time people are sad or upset it doesn't get aired unless it's carefully designed for audiences.
I did martial arts for 3 years at 300 pounds. I was miserable inside but happy externally. Of course, I am not Whitney! She may very well be happy, and I truly hope she is happy and content.
Even many normal-weight women do have PCOS - it's due to insulin resistance and low carb diets have been shown to help even if skinny. They also cause a small to modest amount of weight loss.
There are people who lost weight without surgery who are 200+. It's rare, but it happens probably less than 1% of the time. I know one personally. He is pretty badass. I received surgery for a few reasons:
1) I wanted the permanent metabolic reset surgery provides which is not available to the same degree via diet alone (even the ketogenic diets).
2) I have BED and food addiction in remission. I wanted a permanent solution that limits my consumption.
3) While ha*****ange works, for whatever reason that is poorly understood, surgery always results in permanent long-term weight loss where ha*****ange alone typically does not. I wanted every single edge possible.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

and in a few year she may be a great candidate for a "my 600-lb life"

In fact she is healthier th Han us all. She has a normal anatomy and even women in normal weight have cysts.
She's done the remarkable loved herself and did not choose to self mutilate
So let's get off our high horses! Lol
My surgery was not "mutilation."
Don't presume that you know others' health situation. Five bucks says my numbers (or any of the other vets' here) are better than hers.

I can promise you that she is not healthier than me.
I do not pant and sweat climbing a flight of stairs. I do not have "pre" -diabetes. I do not pass out and have a cardiac event just dancing. I don't have to have my mother shave my legs.
I no longer have the effects of PCOS -- no insulin resistance, no HBP, no sleep apnea, and no high triglycerides/lipids. They've all been resolved by losing 220 pounds.
I loved myself when I was fat. I love myself now. I have always been beautiful and I always loved myself.
I am not on a high horse -- but I can now ride one without animal cruelty.
I can also ride on roller coasters with my son. I can fit in an airplane seat -- and a booth at a restaurant. I can chase my son and actually catch him. My husband can carry me over the threshold.
I am far more likely to dance at my son's wedding and to hold his children one day. I have a better chance of celebrating my 50th wedding anniversary.
I am sorry you are having regrets -- but I did NOT choose to "self-mutilate." Do you consider cardiac bypass to be mutilation, too? How about a liver transplant? I had surgery to correct a medical problem that was killing me.
If you had surgery for some other reason than your health and happiness -- I am truly sorry. However, please do not project your life experiences with anyone else.

First of all.... Whoa!
I've not yet had surgery, but I'd like to point out that it isn't even close to "self mutilation", I'm sure there are a lot of people on these boards that find it quite insulting to even suggest such a thing.
Further more, the fact that she hasn't undergone surgery does not equate to her being healthier than all on this board. One does not equal the other.
