Skin issues
I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and I'm nervous and excited about having the surgery soon, but I've been noticing I've already been having issues with excess skin. I've managed to lose about 85 pounds without the surgery and I'm noticing my overhang (or whatever it's called) feels different when I pull on pants and I'm having rash issues in that same area. Does anyone have any ideas to help with that now and further in the future?

I'm a guy so this works for me. I use old Spice "pure sport" deodorant for my pits and my rolls.
Go to a medical doctor ....dermatologist if possible, and document every bump, rash, redness, etc in every crevice of your over hanging skin. Sometimes insurance pays for plastics....(sometimes they don't)...but only if you have really good medical documentation.

Yes, the hanging skin can be an issue. I've lost 120 pounds since my heaviest, so I feel your pain. Try Monistat Complete Care Chafing Relief Powder Gel. It goes on in gel form but dries to a silky powder and really is effective to keep those areas dry. I love it because no huge powder mess. You can get it just about anywhere--Walmart, Walgreens, etc.
When I feel like I need even more protection, I also use (I know the name is hilarious but it really works great), Lady Anti Monkey Butt Anti Friction Powder with Calamine. It was developed for cyclists to keep their butts from chafing, but it reallly works great!
Thank you Cathy - This has been an issue for me and it's been tough to fix because, well because it likes to be dark and moist right there!
In addition to what others said, keep it dry. Moisture will cause all kinds of problems.

I have to give you applause for losing 85 lbs!
For the rashes - treat with antifungal cream, like that used for jock itch or atheletes foot. Yes, it's the same kind of thing and it worked SO much better than other things I tried. I would also tuck a paper towel in the folds to absorb moisture.

When I started getting some skin issues, I started using compression garments. I found this helps with the rubbing and irritation.

Great job on losing so much weight pre surgery!!! I just went to a dermatologist for the same issue and he prescribed: Hydrocortisone Lotion USP 2.5% by Perrigo and Nystatin Cream USP 100,1000 units per grams. He called it into the wrong pharmacy so I paid more (insurance covered the rest) but they were $15.00 a piece. My rash was gone in 2 days. My skin is super sensitive so I have to be careful what I use. My surgeon documented my rashes at my 3 month visit for PS down the road.
Ditto to what everyone said. Scottie mentioned document as insurance usually does not pay. Take photos also of any nasty rashes or issues you may have. The only way I could keep it dry was to put flower sack towels in the fold Good Luck and GREAT JOB on losing 85 pounds
