An arbitrary milestone

Today is a bit of an arbitrary milestone for me. I weigh in every Wednesday and Sunday morning. Today I hit the mark - on the dot - of having lost the same amount of weight post-op as I did pre-op. This was important to me because in 10 days I will be at the four month mark since surgery. It was four months (and four days) from my initial consultation to surgery. I guess the balance point would technically be Feb 15 and not the 11th, and if I really got fussy I could count out all the days in both directions, but I am not that fussy.

I did well enough losing weight pre-op that I second guessed this whole process right up until they knocked me out. Several other people, including one of the nurses prepping me for the OR sort of wondered too. The surgeon assured me this was the best way to go to avoid a relapse. I was not oblivious to his profit motive, but that did not make his words any less true, and so I proceeded.

The fact that I have continued to lose at this rate validates my decision. While I understand stalls and non linear weight loss well, it is still something of a relief to have beaten the date on the calendar by at least a few days. If anyone is wondering, I am down 134 lbs today. I have 47 lbs to go to reach my own self imposed goal. That is also an arbitrary number, and open to revision. I am waiting to see how far this goes. I just hope it doesn't go too far.  I would hate to end up like the guy in the link below.

Congratulations!! All milestones are arbitrary... what makes them special is how we feel about them! So celebrate and continue on your journey!

I also lost a ton preop. But I had lost a lot in the past, and it always came back, plus extra. After surgery was the one time it stayed off. And getting a good running start preop helps greatly in getting rid of all the excess.

You know what to do when the load is unbalanced. Take light cuts before increasing speed.

Thank you everyone!  I am sitting here today feeling a little sorry for myself because I have some sort of virus.  It is affecting my stomach and my head.  At least with my stomach being smaller, it isn't as bad as it could be.
