Psychological Evaluation...
So the thing is, the surgery won't make any difference long term if you don't address the flaw in your mental processes that got you to the weight where you needed surgery in the first place. So be honest in with your psych appointments and invest the time and resources into finding a therapist to keep seeing post-op. For long term success, you've got to use the initial post-op period to sort out your brain - which, sadly, surgery won't change.

Mine was < 1 hr appt and he just wanted to ensure that I understood what I was getting into and there weren't any issues that would prevent success with the RNY. His recommendation to me was to find a therapist who works with patients on emotional issues around eating, and he signed off.
I got a recommendation from the surgeon's office for a therapist when I asked them. (for the longer term stuff)
They remind us often -- the doc, the nutritionist, the nurses, in group -- that RNY is not brain surgery, so we need to be aware that the mental & emotional aspects of this process may need additional attention if we want to be successful long term.
