What you wish you knew before surgery.

Yes, important to remember that so many folks (including us formerly) had weight issues. And when we lose weight those are reflected to them. I was taking a Tai Chi class with men and women in it, and during breaks the men would leave the room but most of the women stayed. Most were average or sort of chunky. Anyway, this was early on for me but I was still pretty emotional and I made a comment about the room being cold and a couple of the women said that maybe if I ate occasionally I wouldn't be so cold! They assumed because I was thin that I didn't eat!
This was an eye opener to me....about all the times that I 'assumed' things about my skinny friends. So I went to one of them and apologized....and we were able to talk about her own body issues (I thought she was gorgeous). Anyway, it is not about us, it brings out the other person's insecurity when they see someone who lost weight or who is slim, or who is changing their lives. Don't take it personal...

I really wish I had known that I would ALWAYS be so damn cold!!!  I sit at my desk at work with a sweater, gloves, heater going, and with a blanket over my lap ALL day!!  And at home with 2 blankets over me!

Hi Dee,

I don't see your surgery date, when did you have surgery?  I was cold for the first 2 years and then warmed up....

I'm always moving these days!  Now that I can!  My daughter keeps saying it's because I'm so tiny now.  LOL

I invested $20 for an electric blanket to keep at work. I drape it over my chair then sit on it and wrap it up over my legs. It is the best $20 I think I have ever spent!

Had VSG on 9/28/15

Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!
