NSV

Last night I was feeling weird and started getting blurred vision in one eye so I checked my blood pressure. I got to use the normal sized cuff! It's a small NSV of many, but for some reason I've always had an issue having to use that GIANT cuff! I guess because at the Dr. the nurses always tried the normal cuff and then would have to switch to the giant one. It got on my nerves like they did it on purpose lol.

Turns out I was having an aura migraine. I've had them before with no head pain just the strange swirly colors but this time I did get a manageable headache. I don't think I've ever had a full blown migraine before.

I get aura migraines and I got info from the Migraine Foundation (many years ago) and they told me to drink black coffee as hot and quickly as I could along with Tylenol!!  It works every time for me!!  Give it a try!

As soon as the aura starts!

Great NSV with the BP cuff, but I'm sorry for the migraine.  My mother used to get those years and years ago.  She's been gone over 10 years.  It was back in the late '70's and it took her doctor forever to figure out what it was... blurry vision in one eye, but no pain and then it would go away as fast as it came.

Surgery Date June 3, 2016

WOW! Thanks for that great info!! I will try that next time. Luckily it doesn't happen often.

Love the NSV! It's been a pet peeve of mine as well, the insistence on trying the normal cuff. I got to the point where i just told them before they had a chance to reach hahha

My dad has the same type of migraine, occasionally, and it's happened only once to me. Such a strange feeling!

It is a strange feeling! It seems like it would be caused by a stroke or high blood pressure. I've had it a few times but absolutely no headache.

I carry a lot of weight in my upper arms and even telling them the small cuff won't fit, they want to try it every time. Grrr. It's the nice thing about my surgeon's office, the big cuff is the default!

I get those same aura migraines.  Even more weird when it happens to both eyes and they "swirl" in different directions!  Although, mine are usually a precursor to a full on migraine.

Mine too but try the coffee!!  It does something to the membranes in your head!
