Having an issue kicking the salt habit?
Hello
I wanted to share a helpful hint that helped me kick the salt habit. Once you have surgery and eat clean you will find any and all non clean foods taste like licking a salt lid. But for those that are pre-op and or fallen into some old habits I found this helped me.
Buy popcorn salt. Yes, popcorn salt. It's ground up really fine and you will use less. Regular salt just falls to the bottom and I ended up eating way more than I intended. But popcorn salt adheres to the food therefore you use less.
Nowadays I don't add salt to anything. I hope this helps

But.. there's nothing wrong with salt for most people? And some amount of sodium in our diets is important. Salt consumption really only needs to be monitored if a) you eat a lot of processed foods, which we shouldn't and b) your doctor has specifically advised you to avoid it.

I unfortunately have to cut back on salt. I'm notorious for my non cooking! lol It's not that I add salt to my food, but too many foods that are pre made already has salt in it, usually way too much. I might have to give in & cook! Good thing its just for me & the fire extinguisher is close by!

Since we're on the subject of salt, if one is on a low carb diet... This is a good read.

Like you, Kathy, I haven't added extra salt to my food for a long time. When I did add salt years ago my blood pressure increased and I experienced swelling in my limbs. Pepper is my "go to" Love it on everything. I don't miss salt.
