Feeling uneducated

ok, guys.. I'm feeling super lost right now. I'm 6 weeks post op (rny) and I feel like my doctor gave me absolutely no information or tools for success. I've talked to several people and they've all said that their doctors or bariatric centers have them binders with all the details and to do's/don't do's but I'm completely clueless about what I'm supposed to be doing and things that I should know already to be successful. All the little details about how you should start working out as soon as you're able and how you lose the most weight in the first 6 months etc. I was completely unaware of any of these things. Can somebody please please please give me any information or tips so that I can feel a little more clued in and regain a little bit of my confidence in this whole process/life change? Feeling so hopeless and lost and it really sucks! Any info is truly appreciated :)

It sounds like its more of confidence issue to me- than an education thing. You know enough to know that you should begin an exercise regimen when able to, and to maximize your weight loss early. The specifics behind it will be individual to your preferences and how your body responds to your efforts. What are your protein goals? Are you meeting them? How's your water intake? What kind of diet of you on now?

The only reason I know these little details is because somebody other than my doctor has told me them. My protein goal is 60-80g a day which I always meet if not exceed so I know I'm good there. Trying to drink as much water as possible but I know I can do more, my job makes it difficult but it gets a little easier every day to increase my intake. I feel like my diet is pretty good but I could be totally off base. I usually have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, sometimes a Greek yogurt in the afternoon and then a low carb dinner that focuses on veggies and extra protein. I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. I never would have known how important the first several months were if somebody hadn't told me so I was hoping to get some input for people to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong or forgetting important pieces of the puzzle. Thank you for taking the time to let me know your thoughts :)

I highly recommend the book Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies, it addresses a lot of things about post-op life that some doctors include in their discharge instructions.
