Sky high b-12

my baseline (pre-surgery) B12 was way above normal and kept getting higher and higher after surgery.  When it went over 2000, the PA in my surgeon's office suggested I cut my dose in half.  I don't think it's necessarily worrisome to have it that high, but I think his point was that I can probably keep it at a decent level with a lower dose.  We'll see where it is on my next set of labs.  But I don't think a high B12 level is particularly dangerous (unless, like you said, it's because of something like blood cancer....).  There are people on here who like theirs over 1000 (which is above the normal range) because they feel better.

Apparently B12 being elevated with supplementation is no big deal, without supplementation is a different story.  I was referred to a geneticist today to test for MTHFR.  This RNY journey certainly is having it's twists and turns!

When was your surgery/what did you have?

I am one month into the pre-surgery requirements for RNY.  My surgeon ordered labs and that's where the b12 came from.
