full but always feeling hungry
I need to know if there is anyone else out there, that has had the gastric sleeve done who feels hungry all the time? I had surgery on sept 6 2016 and as of today i am the same weight as my surgery date :(. I can eat a lot more than i could when i had the lap band. I can eat 2 chicken legs and some veggies (which my Dr doesn't want me to have yet) and stomach will be hurting a little, like it does when full, but my head is telling me i am still hungry. I am so frustrated. I feel like i am failing myself and can't do anything to stop. i know i am eating bad things and i am trying very hard to get back on track and could use some help. i need some new ways of getting in the correct amount of protein and a way to tell my BRAIN to shut up, i am full not hungry.
thanks in advance

I don't know of a way to turn off your mind. It will keep misleading you- you have to make a conscious decision not to listen to it. My guess is that you really don't know what hunger is. Even if it is true hunger- it doesn't always needs to be fed. Hunger is not an emergency.
Are you tracking what you eat, weighing and measuring? When you serve your protein forward portion call it done. Find a hobby, read a book, distract your mind somehow. And you should not be eating until you hurt- that's overeating.
Are you drinking calories? If so quit it. If you haven't lost any weight it Sounds like you never put good habits into practice. You have to start somewhere.

are you getting 64+ounces of liquid every day? Dehydration mimics hunger...
i thought i was cuz i use a 44 oz cup, but i am not completly sure, i will start drinking more when i feel hungry and at least 1 bottle before i eat.
Weight loss will happen when you eat less than you did with the lap band. Surgery is not magic. If you eat too much, you will not lose any weight.
You need to cut out 500 calories a day to lose one pound each week. Multiply your current weight by 10 and that is the number of calories you are ingesting each day. Subtract 500 and eat that many per day. Each week you will lose one pound. In a year, you can lose 52 pounds.
As you lose weight you eat fewer calories to maintain.

Acid reflux can mimic hunger, too. Are you on a PPI? This is worth mentioning to your doctor, IMO.
I also had a revision from band to bypass, and since I was SO sick prior to the revision, I found that I could eat WAY more after revision that I could before. I was listening to others who were new to surgery complain about all the things they couldn't eat and didn't relate at all... But I just focused on the fact that I could finally eat the right foods, and stuck with the high protein.
I'm sorry you are struggling. But you really, really need to find a way to get your eating under control. You haven't lost a pound in your first 4 months since surgery. These were the easiest4 months to lose, by far. If you stay on this path, you will be gaining weight, very soon.
Start weighing your food. Every bite. Log every morsel you eat in something like MyFitnessPal. Be honest. Cut out all carbs for now. Eat only dense protein. You shouldn't be getting more than 800 calories for now.
The first few days will be the hardest. But your head cravings will calm down.
Do this now. Today. It won't be easy.

I hate to say it, but you need to get your act together. You are already going against your doctors orders by eating veggies. If you are not seeing a therapist already then you need to find one who will help you.
Why are you eating bad things? You already had the band (which I did also) so you should know the do's and don'ts about WLS.
Start today weighing and measuring out EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth.
