Anyone else have their voice change after surgery?

My voice has definitely changed since my surgery. It is kind of hoarse now. Not bad, but definitely different. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? Are my vocal chords getting thinner too? Or might there have been some damage from the tubes down my throat during surgery?

I definitely notice it, especially when I sing (which I love to do but have never done well).  My voice tends to crack more than it used to.  DH says he notices a difference in my laugh.  Not sure why.

While I cannot explain or recall why, a friend of mine who sang opera had the same experience.

That is actually a very typical sign of something called "silent reflux". You should definitely mention it to your doctor right away. Reflux with no bad symptoms may not seem like a big deal, but it can actually lead to cancer if untreated. I suffered with it the entire time I had the lapband and it only got worse and worse. Please don't ignore it!

I was hoarse for a short time, but have since cleared up. Everyone notices that my voice seems a little higher pitched than before though. I'm guessing it's because of the amount of neck weight lost.

I had the same thing. Like the others have said, it's reflux - stomach acid causing swelling of your vocal chords.  If untreated it is constant irritation of the mucus membranes of your throat and can lead to cancer.

Call your Dr - they can call in a prescription for you.

Best wishes it resolves quickly.
