What did people say about you pre-op/at your heaviest?

I'm actually really shocked that more people don't have negative experiences. I was brutally bullied in school even teachers joined in, my weight was always a family hot topic and shoot even strangers said hurtful things. Being fat was horrible. 

Being fat was horrible for me as well. I was bullied in school, bullied at church, and bullied by my family. After I was married, my MIL had something to say about my weight every single time she saw me.

I have long since taken control of most of it and cut all but my closest family out of my daily life, but everything I suffered for being fat caused incredible damage to my self esteem for decades.

Me too!  And to this day if I hear people laughing I think they're laughing at me.

Oh, I heard some nasty comments, but no more than anyone here, I'm sure. 

I feel sad for all of you that have had such negative experiences. There have been people who've said things about my weight but fee and far between. And almost everyone I've told about having surgery have been very supportive. 

The most hurtful thing I ever heard was .... I had just went back to college as an adult ( I started motherhood at 17 ) so I was so proud to be there at the ripe age of 30 as I dropped my 2 no daughter off at kindergarten . I was sitting in my anatomy class and was speaking to the girl sitting next to me while the teacher was out of the room . We were discussing our crazy new schedules and the need to clean out our cars and I said " yikes I know, my car looks like a graveyard for fast food papers "  this snarky young girl behind me that was always huffing and puffing if I had a question in class just said so loudly for all to hear .... " really ....what a surprise that YOU would have tons of fast food wrappers in your car " then she horse laughed and began to look around to see who was joining her in her jab at me. Thankfully only the girl sitting next to her slightly began to giggle until she realized it went over like a lead balloon ! It stuck with me though !!!!

I meant my second daughter 

My father told me "it's amazing how obese you are with how little you eat" because I dieted since puberty.  All food was taboo to me, so I survived on the bare minimum.  Now 11 years after my DS, my dad tells me "you really put it away now".  

Everyone else had the mantra "you have such a pretty face"...blah blah blah

There isn't enough room to post everything that was said to me. High school was the worst as I was always the fat friend. I heard many comments from guys about not being pretty enough for them and them just putting up with me so they could get with my friends. I didn't treat myself the best during those years due to my severe lack of self confidence.

I heard many comments from customers when I was in retail about the 'fat girl' that helped me. I've heard many people saying I caused my cancer because I was obese. The amount of times I heard doctors insisting that x y or z was because I was obese - including things that had zero to do with weight. 

I try not to think about it now. But 33 years of it was a lot.
