Venting - Trainers are all still in diapers!

OK, OK, maybe not diapers but close!  I understand it's a profession that does not pay well and there is a huge turn over.  Back in the day cough, cough, I loved weight training.   It was key to my getting to goal and staying there for years.

I worked mostly with my son and had it down to a tee.....  Anxious to get back to it, I am calling around inquiring at different gyms to get a couple sessions in to acclimate myself with the equipment and practice my form under supervision.

Grrrrrrr, I keep getting "kids" and all they want to do is show me old lady moves, workouts.  I keep saying no, I have my workout plan and I know what I want to do. They keep saying but at your age you need this and that.  Getting ready to bit** slap the kids!  When I ask for older trainers they're none.  The oldest I have found is 25!

Please consider lifting weights during your weight loss and after. I am not talking bulk up and looking like the hulk   But this is great for us that are losing weight/lost weight, bones, posture (you may not realize it but we hunch over) and multiple good factors.  And if you are younger do it NOW   So they won't concentrate on your age!

I miss my old trainer. He whipped my butt in shape!

Maybe try checking out a more boutique gym.  A lot of the 'older' trainers that stay in the business probably move on away from the more generic national brands - sometimes into their own gyms.

Crossfit gyms and OLY gyms are becoming more and more popular and often have great trainers / coaches.

Came to say the same. More established trainers are going to head out on their own, or at least get away from the large chains as fast as they can.

Thanks for the info, I know the good ones are somewhere.  I did it before on my own and my butt may go it alone again.  I do know if you have someone there you do more.  Even when you think you have nothing left them get 5 more out of ya

Girl ya gotta be bold when it comes to these young folks. Next time they start with the whole people your age this or that you can go with A I was working out back when your Dad was working your Mom on the horizontal hustle tip. (be prepared it might go over his head lol)

or B Don't let the gray hair fool ya, unless you can work me out, you won't be working my wallet.

I have my old workout plan so if push comes to shove I will do it myself.   Almost spit my tea when he said something about my weak bones.  LMAO, seriously?

Hugs!

Also check for private trainers. Just google them. My trainer has her own practice. It's word-of-mouth only, and she is phenomenal. She's also 50 years old, with a master's degree, and specializes in elderly, obese, or special-needs clients (though she does boot camps in the evenings that are for everyone).

It's a but pricier than the gyms, but her knowledge and expertise are well worth it.

Wow, she sounds amazing... not sure I could afford it, but what a great find. You don't live in NorCal do you?
