Divorce after WLS

I think the best revenge is to have yourself respect back. He can't take that from you.
There is a man in AA who I talk to on a regular basis. He is about 75. He told me one day that you are a beautiful woman and a woman of dignity.
This is one thing I say to myself every morning.
Remember you are a woman of dignity.

I met my first husband when I was 15 and we married when I was 21.
Long story short -- I caught him in flagrante delicto on our wedding night with the bellhop in our hotel. Seriously.
I was devastated and too ashamed to tell anyone. I wanted to believe him that it was the first time (dumb) and that the marriage wasn't a huge mistake (naive). He made all kinds of promises and we visited a counselor.
Six wasted years later -- the realization that he was a sex-addict that slept with men and women (preferred men) -- being caught so many times that it was in the double digits -- I finally ended the marriage. Oh, he slept with my maid of honor (his best friend's wife first, too)...
It sucked.
I am sorry for your situation. I am happy you aren't wasting any more of your precious time.

I was at the time. I remember wandering around Time Square (where we'd gone for our honeymoon) in my nightgown at 11 pm just wringing my hands. I was too embarrassed to call my mom or dad. I mean, who is cheated on during their honeymoon!! LOL.
But, now, it's just an interesting story in my life. I survived it -- I moved on -- and really don't hold a lot of anger or regret about it. People are who they are -- and we can either live with and love those people -- or not. Most of the time, people don't set out to hurt us. That isn't their intention. That doesn't mean that we have to accept their **** -- but it does help me to remember that (most of the time), most of us are just getting through life the best that we can.
I tried to stay true to myself and my values through the divorce. I didn't discuss my ex-husband's personal life or go out of my way to embarrass him. I tried not to bad mouth him to but a few of my closest friends/family. Even today, because he is very active in the community, people will ask me what he did and why we divorced. I always just say, "we weren't compatible, but I always wish Chris the best in life."
And I do. Just not with me in his life.
On a side note, I have been with my current husband for 19 years. My ex is still alone.

Love you, too!
