There are much better sources of protein other than ensure. Ensure has a lot of carbs and a lot of extra calories per serving. Many protein shakes have 25 to 30 grams per serving.

I drink at least 1 protein shake per day, and now I'm trying to get up to 2. My shake has 25 grams of protein and I think 140 calories.

Stick to stuff that's at least 10g protein for every 100 calories. You can do far better than Ensure.

I give this to my dad who is diabetic. It is the lowest sugar there is around 2 grams (for an ensure product) I think per serving. He only drinks half to take his meds with. He needs the vitamins and stuff in it. Which you don't, if you are following the docs vitamin list.

However I would NOT recommend using it for you after WLS. One the cost, its around $8 for 6 small bottles, and two there are just better products. I use isopure zero carb protein powders. 26 grams of protein per scoop. Zero carbs. Yes it's around $50 but that it for 3 POUNDS of protein powder.

I buy the unflavored and can add a scoop to soups, beans, coffee, mashed potatoes, etc...  Just mix any protein powder with cold water into a paste then add to anything hot, so you don't cook the protein. Trust me cooked protein is GROSS.
