VSG Phase 1 question
Hi all,
My surgery was two weeks ago tomorrow. Over the past few days, I've had a bad taste in my mouth and nothing seems to help. I had my checkup yesterday and the surgeon said that it's normal, my body is in ketosis. The problem is that everything tastes bad to me. Will this go away when I get to phase two this weekend? Did any of you have this problem and, if so, how long did it take for it to go away?
Thanks!

Thank you so much, Kathy! I will post this on the VSG forum. I didn't realize there was one! Still new... :)
I have heard this happens too and it is normal. I am 6 days away from my surgery so I have not experienced it but I am sure a lot of people do. I was told we can use breath mint strips to help freshen breath. I am having the VSG too.

Congratulations and good luck with your surgery! I was very nervous for mine, but it was way better than I had anticipated. I'm two weeks out and feel great overall outside of the little hiccup I describe above, which is really more of an annoyance.
Thank you!! I am nervous. Its nice reading good outcomes like yours but on some of the groups im on people say it was awful etc! I know everyone is different and I just hope and pray my experience is a good one.

Heya!
Congrats on having your surgery!! I promise all of this will be WELL worth it! :) I had the DS about four years ago and I remember vividly how some of my tastes changed. For me, the everything tastes bad stage took about a month to go away. Your normal taste buds should come back when you can diversify some of what you are eating. It will not be too much longer! :)
