Sofa hasn't been an issue for me to cut but this week after having 1, then 2 was easier and so on.  I was in no place to get my IV drip of Starbucks which is my caffeine addiction so I went to sodas.  I'm glad to be back home in the land of no sodas, they mad me feel guilty and also I felt like they had me craving or flat eating more like you said due to the sugar.

My program warned against drinking soda post-op.  It's a huge no-no because of the sugar content and also because of the carbonation (along with beer, champagne, & sparkling water).  From what I was told, the carbonation can cause a lot of problems (like stretching your sleeve, abdominal discomfort) because our new stomach is much smaller and the bubbles fill it with gas...not good!

I waited 6 months before trying something fizzy, and then till 8 months to have several ounces of something, I can't finish a can.  The fizz seems to have no ill effect on me but I'm also not pounding it.

I love Diet Coke but this surgery has made t so I can't have anything carbonated - not even a little. So no choice but to cut it out for me. I even loved just carbonated water, can't even have that! I turn into a gas bubble.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I've not gone on vacation yet but I learn alot from other people's experiences. Good luck re-taming those cravings!

So far so good.  I think I've build a strong culture of not having those old tempting foods at the house that I feel totally normal.  While at the grocery store last night I did say "damn why didn't I have some Cheetos while on vacation" but that was the extent of it.  I do perimeter shopping so I normally don't even see tempting treats.  I've learned to not look at end caps LOL
