2 MONTHS POST OPT TONS OF QUESTIONS
Hello my name is Brittney I am 2 months post opt. Today I found out about this site and was interested to be able to spk with others going through the same journey. I 'm down 30lbs since my surgery and wondering should I be losing weight faster am I doing the right things and what can I do better to make sure I'm losing the most weight possible.
There is no normal but a rounded off version is 20 pounds in month one, ten pounds each in months two through six and then five pounds a month for six months to end up with 100 pounds off in one year. You are exactly on track.
Weight loss is not especially faster after surgery but you have a tool to keep it off this time.
The Post-Op planner at the top of the page in Resources can give you a great estimate of what to expect.

Hi Brittney!
You can see my stats in my signature line as to how much weight I've lost (each month)... I'm only a little over 5 months out, but it gives you some ideas anyway.
Welcome to the board! Go over to the RNY board and join our Morning Menu post. You'll gain a TON of information, menu ideas, and forge some friendships on that post... plus it helps to keep you accountable as to what you eat.
Things, as a newbie, that I've learned from reading here...
- NUTS are not always your best source of information... most have never had our surgery, and don't understand our struggles
- Carbs are NOT our friends... the sooner you kick them to the curb, the better.
- Steak is a great breakfast food (or pork chops, chicken, tuna and meatballs)
- Water is our sister in this fight! Without enough liquids, you'll struggle
- Your brain can not be trusted! (We didn't have surgery there, it will play the devil's advocate and tempt you like a mistress in heat!)
- The surgery is merely a TOOL... you still have to do the work if you want to succeed long term
- The VETS here are full of good advice and real life struggles... learn from them
Welcome!
