ORBERA Balloon Procedure
There is a balloon forum but no one has posted on it yet. I haven't heard of anybody on here having it. Probably because it's the most temporary of all the surgeries. 6 months is not enough time to lose 100+ lbs. Maybe if you are only 50lbs overweight. I read about it but didn't like the sickness people experience with it. Not worth it for only 6 months of weightloss.

Hi queenb39,
Here are a couple of great articles on the procedure. My next suggestion would be to find a surgeon in your area that does this procedure and make an appointment. Would be a great opportunity to learn more. If you need help with finding a surgeon let me know.

I wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole. It's only temporary. 6 months. Test results show very little loss. There are no long term results. Like the band, people like the idea of the balloon , thinking it is least invasive. The band turned out to be most invasive. Who knows what kind of long term damage the balloon can cause.
There have been many types of WLS over the years. Most were abandoned after causing serious complications. I would never, ever undergo something like this until tens of thousands of them were done first.

All I have to go on is my experience. When the band worked (another restrictive procedure), it was at best okay. The other 95% of the time, I was foaming, throwing up and generally unable to keep anything solid down (except ice cream and hot chocolate, that stayed down fine). Oh and the GERD, waking at night with stomach acid pouring out of your mouth and nose was no dream either. So, having said that--I would NEVER go for another restrictive WLS again.
In fact, when I had my band removed in 2013 because it slipped, I swore off WLS altogether. It wasn't until late 2015 that I decided to give it "another go" with RNY. I should have chosen RNY the first time.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.
