Bruising from blood pressure cuff
I had some serious bruising from my blood pressure cuff. The bruising went away but 4 months later I still have some discoloring. My dermatologist said it would go away but I haven't seen any changes.
Did anyone have this? Is it permanent? I guess it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but curious to know anyway.

Was the bruising caused by a person or by the automatic cuff? I have ripped the auto cuff I only let them take the bp on my forearem. I silently say FU to the nurses who argue with me that the upper arm is more accurate. I shrug my shoulders and say too bad, I always get it done this was so the readings are consistent. (When I had arm surgery, they put it on my shins)
I will not let them put the auto cuff on my upper arm - I did not a burise like you, but I get all these red spots - that may never go away. Plus I have really low blood pressure - both like 90/60, so it is really stupid to take the cuff pressure very high.

I had this from the surgery, where I'm sure they had on me for the duration. It was horribly bruised right after but cleared up. This seems to be a left over (permanent?) discoloration.

I did not have a problem and I didn;t even think about it being on for so long. They did not put it on while I was conscious for the WLS - another story. I was awake for the arm surgery when they put the cuff on and they said they would put the cuff on my leg, or else they would have to move it during surgery to my leg after they finished the first arm.
I would think that your burise would clear up (eventually) - I had an air bag blow up in my face (the old ones that packed more punch) and while most of the redness was gone in 3 months, there was redness any time I exercised or got hot - the dermatologist said it could take 18 months for all the small capillaries to totally heal.

I've had bruising from an automatic cuff before at home. Now I'm always ready to rip it off it it starts getting too tight. I had a pretty bad bruise from a failed IV on surgery day (6/3/16). I asked my surgeon at my 3 mo. check-up and he said it could take up to a year to go away. I'm about 4.5 months post-op now. It's fading, but very slowly. For a while people thought I had gotten a tattoo. I'm not judging others, but I'm definitely not a tattoo gal.

I haven't bruised, but I have gotten very red, very sore from it. The last I yelled , that HURTS! At the nurse and ripped it off. I was in tears... So I only let them do the lower for arm now. I thought it was due to the excess skin, not getting a reading , so they built more pressure. After reading that I'm not alone in this, maybe it's something else. :) but I definitely will not be letting them squeeze my arms till all the filling pops out, ever again
