You need a job with a more positive and upbeat employer.

Ha. I work as a "triage counselor" right now since I'm still waiting to take my licensure exam post-graduation, and I basically work with individuals who are severely suicidal, homicidal, and intractably psychotic.
Basically: the internet.

Two things.........
First: Please, please do more research on WLS and the fact that most hospitals don't even offer Lapband surgery anymore. It has been replaced with VSG and RNY. Lapbanders have many, many complications and a large percentage of Lapbanders end up having revision surgery. Read the Lap Band and the Revision boards too.
Second: You should not limit yourself to "upbeat" posts. All the boards here have upbeat posts... about NSVs, 100 pounds lost, reaching goals, maintaining loss, etc. But you should read the good, the bad and the ugly. Unfortunately, WLS is a tool..... there's a whole lot more to weight loss than having the surgery. You should educate yourself as much as you can. The more you read, the more you learn how to face the ups and downs of WLS life.
I recently had a revision from lapband to RNY. I will try to be as upbeat as possible in saying this, but I would highly suggest that you reconsider having the lapband. My surgeon rarely does a lapband anymore, and never recommends it now. So many people have complications, and the long-term success rate is terrible! I wish you luck with whatever you decide, but please do your research! By the way, I had to pay out-of-pocket for the revision, because my insurance company will only pay for one WLS per lifetime -- no matter what. And I know that many insurance companies have that same policy.
