HELP! Need advice about the OH Conference

So, I'm flying in tomorrow and will be to LAX at about 10:30 local time.  My plan has been to rent a car (have reservations for it already) and drive to the conference, but now I'm second guessing myself.  I'm wondering if it's worth the $175 for the car rental?  I could get a car service down and then just use Uber or something while there.  I'm not staying at the Conference hotel, but I'm only a few miles away.

Locals, I'm pretty okay with driving, but I'm wondering if it will be easier for me to just get a car service down or if I should just go with my original plan and get the car.

I guess I should add, is traffic really that bad?  I'm in Detroit and the traffic here isn't usually that bad, even though everyone drives everywhere.

Personally I hate LAX.  And YES.  Traffic can be really bad during peak hours.  Getting in at 10:30, you should miss that peak time.  As far as using a rental, I think it's a good idea.  Super Shuttle from the airport to your hotel would probably be at least $50 anyway.  And with a rental, you can come and go as you please.  I really wanted to go this year.  But, too many other expenses and trips coming up to justify it.  Hope you have a terrific time!!

Holy smoke $175?? What car rental are you using? Have you tried using some of those apps out there like priceline? Have you called the hotel to arrange for transportation? I'm coming in tomorrow too & am using super shuttle they charge around $17.00. You share the ride but I'm pretty sure there will be other people going to your hotel.  They also have an app.

I'm not sure about their public transportation.

Car service can be expensive too.

That is for 3 days, unlimited mileage all taxes and fees included. That's with Avis.

Maybe you should re negotiate with them, are you planning on driving around?, or you're just gonna be at the hotel? $175 seems a lot to me, but then again I'm kinda cheap lol

Really, download the priceline app & rent a car thru them, they have quite a few car rental places at lax & tons cheaper, the cheapest I saw was something called Thrifty, $62.31 due at counter for 3 days.

Also have you googled your hotel & see how far away it is from the conference, uber might not be a bad idea if you're not that far.

Holy **** I just did Kayak and the cheapest they have it for is like $350 for 3 days, I'm sticking with what I have.  I used my hubby's service and he rents cars all the time.

well, **** it's only $16 round trip for me to get the shuttle to the hotel I"m staying at.  I can take Uber or something from the hotel to the conference.  I'm thinking I'll cancel that rental.
