So you started at 21 stone or 294 pounds.

You lost down to 171 pounds and then yo-yoed up to 189 pounds and wore size 16.

After your baby you weighed 220 pounds and people want to know if the bypass worked.

Nobody stays at their lowest weight after surgery.  The body recovers from the forced starvation after about two years. Then weight gain begins and the only way to not gain weight is to eat less calories.

You gained back 49 pounds which is 40% of the 123 pounds that you lost originally.  Surgery worked to the extent that you kept off 74 pounds.  That is 60% of the excess body weight and what is actually considered successful weight loss for gastric bypass long term maintenance.

If you want to weigh less, you can begin eating less calories.  Start by getting a kitchen scale and weighing everything that you eat.  Then record in My Fitness Pal.  That will tell you how many calories you are eating, how many carbs and how much protein.  Each time you reduce calories by 3500 you will lose one pound.  That is 500 a day for a week.  If you reduce calories by 1000 a day you can be back to your low weight in six months.
