How did you pick your Goal Weight?

My surgeon and dietician showed me the BMI scale for someone my height. I went about ten pound lower than the top of the "healthy" BMI. My doc does not want his patients to get too low in weight so I went a little on the heavier side. Being pre-op I am hoping for the best!

"So...all of time and space, everything that ever happened or ever will - where do you want to start?"

My Dr was very conservative with a scale # and reminded me that the scale still goes both ways even after weight loss surgery so focus less on the # and more on changing my lifestyle... because there is no end to this... the day after I reached that # I woke up to more of the same.

One of my very favorite quotes is from Dr. Yoni Freedhoff http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2016/06/10-ye ars-ramblings-of-weight-loss.html

I picked 160 because that is the weight I was when I got married in 1995. My surgery weight was 296 and I am at 206 now - 5 months out.

I had surgery in Mexico so no input from the surgeon.

My doctor did not give me a goal weight.  I wanted to lose 100 pounds.  I did and then slowly regained about 6-7. (138 was only after being sick, I usually bounce from 142-145) I am 59 years old and I have so many wrinkles and skin hanging that I keep trying to balance weight with looking old.  When I hit 140, I look like I am 70, at 145 I look like I am in my 50's.

When I went for my 1 year check-up.  I weighed 144.  The doctor wanted me to lose 10 more pounds.  I am very active, usually about 2-3 hours per day of bicycling (mountain and road) or hiking or jogging.  I use large pick axes, sledge hammers and shovels for current yard renovation and brick wall tear down projects.  I have a lot of muscle.

Starting today I am back on MyFitnessPal to log calories.  I am going to get down to 130-135.  I want to float in that bracket and not 140-145.

I had a couple of weight goals for myself. Initially I thought I would be happy at 200 lbs. When I got there I pushed it back to 185. Then decided I'd like to see 175 (the # my childhood doctor and WW used to tell me as a teenager). My goal now is 170. This will give me some bounce back - I am currently 176 (wearing a sz 12) and feel amazing.

I came up with my number based on the weight I was when I was happiest about how I looked. I'm still on my journey to achieve that goal but I'm open to what will make me feel the best- I'll know it when I get there.

10/21/15 vsg surgery. 5'10"  276lbs.

9/27/16 current weight 189lbs.

Looking good, feeling great!
