How did you pick your Goal Weight?
So... previous to surgery, my NUT asked me what my goal weight was... I promptly said "145", and thus it began...
As I lose more weight, I wonder to myself if 145 will be my 'happy place' or not... and knowing (now) about bounce-back weight, and remembering how I joined Nutrisystems when I saw the scale hit 150 many moons ago, I wonder if 145 will be good.
I have a friend only 1" taller than me whose original goal weight was 180... she is now at 151...
I see a lot of people go under their proposed goal weight, and then I see other's that stop dead on (give or take on a given day)...
So how did you come up with your goal weight? If you're out of the honeymoon phase, did that number change as you got closer?
I guess I can see the end of the rainbow now, but I can't decide where I'll really want to stop... although I'm quite confident I won't waste away! LOL

Ultimately, these are all just numbers. The truth is that I think I'll know it when I get there.

I'm beginning to think they are all just numbers as well... I guess because I can 'see' myself actually hitting my goal I picked, I'm wondering if I will be happy there, or if it'll take a little more to get me happy.
Of course, being 51, perhaps I may be happy not quite hitting that goal too...
I guess I'll just have to wait it out and see how I feel! LOL
Just curious if everyone else feels the same.
And I have had lots of mini-goals along the way (and will continue to), but it's the end number I'm curious as to how people picked that magical number.

I picked mine out of thin air. My surgeon, like many, doesn't give his patients a number to go for. I picked 175 as my unattainable OMG holy **** I can never get there number as that would be 202 pounds lost.
I reached it about 5 weeks ago and am 11 pounds under it right now and am still losing. I obviously won't waste away either lol. I decided to just keep trying to lose until I can't lose anymore because I know eventually it will stop and I will be like whhhyyyy can't I lose anymore?? I know eventually I will hit regain as most people do.
People who start out as lightweights will most likely have a different answer. But I started out as 377 pounds so I never worried I would get too small.

I think that's a good point. I started out at 320 and the lowest I ever remember being is 180. So I just can't fathom any weights lower than that. So after 180 it all just feels like trial and error.

It's all a big science experiment.
There is a time, when your goal may change from a goal weight to a larger goal like "Having a healthy and happy relationship with food and your body. This includes weight, but much more. I am glad that somewhere in the 6 to 9 months, I came across this idea because it prepared me for maintenance thinking, whatever the weight. I picked my goal as 190 (under 200) and then 165 (lowest ever in high school, some 40 years ago), and then after a 2 month pause, went back on the post-op diet and lost another 25. I now weigh less than what I weighed in 6th grade and am holding at 140 +/-.
