Shakes until goal?
Hi! I had vsg on 6/30/16 and I am down 43. Just met with the NUT and she wants me to stay on 2 shakes plus protein &veg for dinner with no snacks. I am starving! Has anyone else been on shakes for so long? She says I'll never be able to eat enough protein so I need to stay with the shakes. I'd appreciate your thoughts!
This seems extreme. How will you ever learn how to change your lifestyle if you're doing shakes forever? You CAN reach your protein goal with real foods. And eating dense protein will make you feel sated which is something you won't get with shakes.
I do still have a shake for breakfast, but that's because I like them and I don't like eating solid stuff in the morning. Not because my NUT tells me to.

Some people stay on shakes for a long time. Usually just one. And most often for breakfast.
But you shouldn't HAVE to. You should be able to get enough protein in now with dense protein. And for sure, it will keep you full longer.
It sounds like your NUT is a nut.

Protein shakes were a daily part of my diet for only about 2 months after surgery. Occasionally I'll have one if I'm pressed for time, or I don't have anything else to eat at the time. They are a great boost of protein, but they don't fill you up. You need dense protein to fill your small stomach, and liquid will never stay with you for very long.
You should have no problem getting your necessary protein, as long as you eat protein first, before eating any veggies or fruit. Measure your protein, and log it into My Fitness Pat to keep track of how much you get. If you're short at the end of the day, then you can drink a shake, or part of one to raise you numbers. You can add part of shake to coffee or hot tea to add a little bit of protein without drinking the whole thing.
Good luck, and do what you feel comfortable with, as long as you're getting the right amount of nutrients.

I think that 2 shakes seems extreme to me and I've actually never heard of anyone doing 2 shakes for so long after surgery.
I still drink a shake for breakfast but that's because I like them, and have been successful with that 1 shake a day so haven't felt the need to change.
Personally the 2 drinks a day seems intense and you should be able to get your protein in with just one.
