I have a 2 year old & a 6 month old, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to care for them after surgery?

I had my surgery in May and had help for 4 days, I have 2.5 year old twin boys. I worked out a way for my twins to climb in and out of their beds and my husband helped at night with them. How heavy is your 6 month old ? I had a 20 lb weight restriction for 6 weeks . I do know that if you lift, you can do some serious damage as far as hernias that could need future surgery to correct and you can possibly tear your staple line. It is doable if you have help . You will need plenty of rest. My twins played on my phone and I'd lay beside them while they played and we read books and sang... They also still take a 2 hour nap so I'd sleep when they did .

If you're still nursing, you probably need to specifically ask your surgeon about how that will be impacted.

You should have some help the first month or so, for you'll be quite fatigued and need to be selfish a little to allow for recovery time.  You shouldn't carry/push/pull/lift anything over 8 lbs for 8 weeks.

I have a ten-month-old, and even though he's a very easygoing baby, I can't imagine trying to chase him down post-op. I was completely exhausted and needed to take daily naps until the two-month-post-op mark, and I don't think I could have made that work if we had a kid at that point.

My experience only, YMMV.
