There is NO WAY you will improve your ferritin without infusions.  You are jogging into heart attack territory and your doctor is not helping you at all.  THIS is why we say that you have to take responsibility for your health.  Doctors are not perfect and some of them are downright dangerous, as yours is.

Get a hematologist immediately.  They should take your extreme health emergency seriously.

Your D needs help but is NOT your major emergency at this point!

Thank you for the eye opening reply, I have been bed ridden for the past month due to this Ferritin issue, I will find an hematologist on my own, I have been trying to wait it out but I know that my time is running out,

I greatly appreciate the reply.

What Kim said. You can't wait this out. It will only get worse. You need iron infusions, now.

I second what Kim said. You need a good hematologist - hopefully one that treats other WLS people - they know we don't absorb iron and will order infusions without trying to make you take more iron ...

The belly issues may be due to the extra iron you are trying to take. I know that oral iron makes my c0gut cramping, and hurting really bad.

When my D was low - I took the dry D-50, 50,000 dry IU capsules. I took that daily for 2-3 weeks.  Then now I take it 2-3 times a week to maintain.  Taking 5000 iu daily did not do much for me, even the dry firm. With lots of liquid and witout any fat.

Dry vitamins that are need to be taken without any fat - I.e not with food or even "coffee with cream" ...the fat may bind to the dry vit and make it less bioavailable for us .

I wanted to ask you did you had any side effects with the 50,000 dose of vitamin D? did your stomach take it ok?

The one I take is the dry Biotech. As long as I take it on empty stomach, I have no problem what so ever.

I often take it With my morning black coffee...Ir tea. I do react to multi - or B complex. If I take that I have to take it with food.

Now iron - that is a different story,  not good for me. Nausea, pain, cramps..- severe cramps.

Try taking it With jus****er or maybe a bite of dry cracker. Sometimes that help. Because they are formulated as "dry " vitamins - I do avoid taking that with any fat, or close to the time I eat anything with fat.  D binds with fat normally but since we malabsorb fat - the way they are formulated - it is best to take them away from any fat.

I know I can't drink too cold or too hot drinks first things in the morning. Nice warm coffee or nice warm tea...are best to "wake up" my pouch.

Good luck. Hope this will work for you.
