I'm approved, what's in "pre-op" testing?

I had blood work, chest x-Ray, ekg, and upper GI series.  I was nervous about the last one but it was no big deal and it did reveal a hiatal hernia which was causing my gerd.  My hernia was repaired when I had my surgery and no more gerd!

I had all the rest, but no endoscopy.   9 vials of blood draw - I had the best physical ever.  Also you may need to get checked out by a cardiologist and perhaps a stress test.

So JA...I had your same pre-op list done on 9/21 but I haven't heard from the surgeon. Have you heard back yet? I don't want to hassle him but I hate the silence.

thanks,

Yes Rachi. I saw my surgeon on 9/28. I had actually made that appointment when I was checking out from my first appt. Checkout is when they gave me the orders for all the pre op tests as well. On 9/28 he went over all my results and said all looked great. We set up my next appointment for 11/3 (he will give me my surgery date at this appt)and they gave me the orders for lab work, which I had done the next day. Their process is very organized and all patients get a checklist and lots of contact information to make all this happen. I would definitely give the program coordinator a call just to check in. Hope you get news soon!
