The science of "starvation mode"

I just spotted a great article that addresses the (not really supported) concept that eating too few calories for a long period of time will screw you up and put you into "starvation mode." It's very well-written and easy to understand.

No, you're not eating too little. You're eating more than you think you are.

This is a good article. The first time I weighed peanut butter, I cried. ( It wasn't tears of joy). I thought the scale was defective and I changed the batteries. Still wasn't accurate, so I thought. I bought another scale and weighed an ounce of Lays chips. Then I thought to myself, Holy Guacamole! No wonder I'm fat!!!!

I had NO clue about serving sizes.

Same here. That's why I've had a lot of luck sticking to pre-portioned stuff, like string cheese and single-serve jerky packets. When I do peanut butter (mostly on bike rides), I get premade pouches, since "one spoonful" is often way bigger than it should be!

That article is one of my favorites as well.

I think I need to make a blog post with links to articles like that one, that way we've got them in one place for easy reference.
